Monday Motivator : 5 Steps To Get Ready For A Summer Move

Summer seems a way off, but in home moving terms it's just around the corner. With the daylight hours getting longer & the garden starting to spring to life it’s time to get prepared if you want a summer move. Here’s 5 tips which will get you in the mindset for the summer move. If you decide to say put, you'll reap the rewards of the jobs well done

1.      Get Outside & Get The Garden Tidy
With the spring bulbs bursting through & the magnolias in bloom its time to tidy up other bits of garden which aren’t looking so fresh. Cut back any dead growth, tidy up borders & time for the first mow of the season! Very little in the way of gardening skill is needed to add a few primroses to borders or pots to give a bit of colour at this time of year and you can pick them up quite cheaply.

2.      Sort Out Your DIY Jobs
We all put off little jobs that take a small amount of time and investment but make a big difference to the overall picture. Putting new batteries in the doorbell, changing a blown lightbulb (inside & out), a fresh layer of mastic around the bath or the shower or fixing a broken door handle. To a potential buyer all these types of jobs, if left unfinished, are indicators of how you have cared for your home. For the sake of a few pounds and a little time, you can make the best first impression.

3.      Clear Out To Recycling Or Charity
With vintage clothes & décor being so ‘on trend’ you could make a few pounds toward the move. If you don’t think that you have the time or inclination to sell, then donate to charity and whilst you’re sorting out, get rid of the items that are passed their best by recycling.
Not only will this make your home less cluttered, it will get your mindset focused on getting ready to pack & start thinking about what you should or shouldn’t take with you.

4.      Clean The Windows Inside & Out
At this time of year when the sun is low the windows will look gleaming or gloomy, don’t let yours be the latter. This may seem insignificant, but it's another one of those jobs which sets the standard of what your potential buyer perceives about your property and your care of it.
(If you have nice clean windows, you can show them off by pointing out the primroses which you have planted from the first tip!)

5.      Register for HEADS UP
We are now using an interactive registration process which gives you control of how you register & what you see. Property will appear for HEADS UP clients at least three days before you will find it on the property portals. If you are just getting a feel of the market, this is an ideal place to start.
